On recommendation from Chisou, Bedrock consulted on a one-off Japanese boutique restaurant in The Westbury Hotel, Mayfair. The challenge was to transform a small, boxy area into a stylish and airy 20-seat restaurant. Space was maximised with banquettes and bar seating, incorporating a bespoke bar stool design integral to the final design. A raised floor area allowed for two striking design features: a recessed Zen garden visible through a glass floor, and bar seating at eye level with the chefs creating their dishes. Electronic fretwork shutters integrated into the ceiling can be lowered to lend a greater degree of privacy to some parts of the seating area.
